HISTORY & FLOODS INFO

It is 41 years since the people of Mytholmroyd decided to acquire a derelict chicken hut and convert it into a Community Centre providing accomodation to the scouts, playgroup, youth club and a community hall. In recognition of the community's enthusiasm and determination, the Community Centre was opened in 1977 by HRH the Duke of Gloucester to commemorate the Queen's Silver Jubilee.

On Boxing Day 2015, the Community Centre was destroyed when it was flooded to a depth of over 6 feet within a time of 15 minutes. After 41 years we were back where we started with a derelict chicken hut. We are, and always will be, extremely grateful for the help and support we receive from all within the local community and further afield.
